Automation Technician

2nd Shift:          Monday – Friday; 3:30PM – 12:00AM. 10% shift differential applies!

Position Summary:

The Automation Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the automated assembly machines and process equipment.

The Screw Machine Operator will be cross-trained in a variety of screw machines to support the department operations and fulfillment of company production goals. The Screw Machine Operator will produce machined parts from a variety of metals to required specifications by operating applicable machining equipment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Troubleshoots and repairs automated assembly and process equipment.
  2. Sets-up automated assembly and process equipment for specific production runs.
  3. Supports the production floor by answering equipment repair and trouble-shooting requests. This includes interacting with and gathering information from Line Leaders and Machine Operators in a professional manner.
  4. Performs preventive or corrective maintenance on automated assembly systems, process, and ancillary equipment.
  5. Installs, sets-up, and rebuilds automation assembly and process equipment as required.
  6. Provides excellent internal customer service to the Machine Operators through quick response time, effective communication, and resolution of issues.
  7. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, abiding by company rules and safety regulations.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

 Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • Minimum of Technical Certification or Vocational Training and 3 years of related experience. Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology preferred.
  • Prior experience in troubleshooting and repairing high speed automated assembly systems including the mechanical devices, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, programmable logic controllers, electrical circuits, and the human-machine interfaces that are present on the mentioned systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in various instruments and hand tools, such as electrical multi-meters and precision measuring devices.
  • Proficiency in the ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic diagrams and blueprints.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC controls, Servo Drives, VFD drives, and High Speed Vision Inspection Systems.
  • Excellent project management skills with the proven ability to deliver timely results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills to effectively deal with individuals at all levels.
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical problem-solving skills together with a high level of manual dexterity and a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and use SAP.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems quickly while performing quality, accurate work under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.
