Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of PPC machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and related electrical systems within the company facility.

This is a 1st shift position. Work hours will alternate to be 5:00am - 5:00pm Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday one week and Sunday/Wednesday/Thursday the next week.

Essential Functions:

  1. Installs, perform preventative maintenance routines, troubleshoots and effect repairs to facilities and production equipment.
  2. Installs, PM, troubleshoots and repairs all production & non-production equipment that supports the facility.
  3. Troubleshoots and repairs facility electrical, mechanical, plumbing & utilities.
  4. Rigs, moves and sets-up production and support equipment, to include power, air and oil as required.
  5. Performs monthly checks and documents inspections to all facility emergency lights, exit lights, ladders and forklift batteries, effecting repairs as necessary.
  6. Fills out maintenance work orders and indirect labor sheets daily, initiates requests for replacement spare parts.
  7. Operates recyclers and boilers for Hazardous Waste Reduction.
  8. Inspects Hazardous Waste Cabinet, checks containers for proper labeling and leaks.
  9. Assists in the manifesting and shipment and ensuring compliance with EPA & DEC regulations.
  10. Design, fabrication and welding of parts to support manufacturing, to include welding repairs to equipment.
  11. Other duties to include but not limited to light carpentry work, plumbing, outdoor grounds maintenance such as snow removal, maintenance of office furniture to include set-up and repairs, etc.
  12. Must be able to flex hours for training purposes and major projects within the plant.
  13. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, abiding by company rules and safety regulations.
  14. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • High School diploma with skilled trades courses desired, combined with 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and SAP is preferred.
  • Must possess skills/knowledge of Industrial Electrician to read and comprehend electrical blueprints and schematics to install, troubleshoot, conduct preventative maintenance and perform repairs to facilities and production equipment to 480 Volts, 3-Phase.
  • Skill with pneumatic systems, basic plumbing & pipe fitting, carpentry and painting.
  • Must demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Proficient and well-rounded technical capacity.
  • Experience with work-order systems, preferably web-based systems.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.
