Assembly Supervisor

Position Summary:

M – F; 4pm – 12:30am; Occasional hours on the weekend

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for achieving the production goals of the assigned Assembly department.  The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the specified department and overseeing personnel across all applicable shifts of the department.  The Assembly Supervisor works directly with the Assembly Manger to support the overall Assembly operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversees and manages operations of assigned department, providing progress updates to the Assembly Manager.

  2. Maintains and fosters a continuous improvement environment through Lean Principles and constant evaluation of current processes while adhering to quality standards.

  3. Provides strong leadership to department personnel across shifts.

  4. Determines work assignments and establishes priorities for personnel of assigned department.

  5. Builds and maintains a highly motivated and flexible workforce that is cross-trained on all equipment.

  6. Ensures department personnel are able to properly and safety perform assigned operations. Provides on-the-job training as needed to ensure quality production and properly orients and trains new hires.

  7. Communicates job expectations to employees, monitors, and appraises employee performance to reduce department turnover.

  8. Provides corrective action to employees and escalates to the Assembly Manager as needed.

  9. Monitors and tracks employee absenteeism and reviews payroll records to verify hours worked.

  10. Performs annual employee performance appraisals.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Engineering or a 2-year technical degree with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a high-volume production environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of production methods in an Assembly department.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with a culturally diverse workforce.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
  • Sound judgement in solving problems independently.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently while working in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, engage, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems to support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to be positive and support process changes, understanding the benefit behind them.
