CMM Technician

Position Summary:

1st Shift: Monday – Friday; 7am – 3pm

The CMM Technician will create measurement standards for components to ensure compliance to engineering specification and quality system procedures.  Responsible for programming and troubleshooting of CMM to improve accuracy and efficiency of component measurements.  Provides technical support for incoming inspection, machining 1st piece inspection and first article/production approval.  Provides technical measurements and analysis of components in support of high volume production operation.

Essential Functions:

  1. Create programs for CMM to measure and qualify parts for incoming, machining and production approval, as well as root cause investigations.
  2. Generate reports to track measurement programs, efficiency improvements, cost savings, and training records.
  3. Create work instructions and measurement records for component measurements.
  4. Perform 1st piece inspection and production process approval as needed, prior to the start of production.
  5. Work with other departments and supervisors to answer questions, solve problems, or raise issue to appropriate levels of management or disposition as needed.
  6. Provide support for troubleshooting measurement equipment as required.
  7. Provide training to all QA staff as new parts/programs/inspection methods are created.
  8. Implement additional measurement systems to improve accuracy and efficiency of inspections as needed.
  9. Provide support to QE team to prioritize workload as needed.
  10. Provide support to engineering investigations and special projects as needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School education or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality related position
  • Experience programming and operating of CMM preferred
  • Blueprint, engineering specifications and GD&T reading required
  • Basic understanding of SPC analysis preferred
  • Demonstrated ability using precision measuring tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with others in a multicultural environment
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
