Maintenance Mechanic (Machining)

Position Summary:

The Machining Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and responsive maintenance on state-of-the-art and legacy production machinery. The Machining Maintenance Mechanic will troubleshoot and make repairs to Hydromat, ACME, and Davenport Screw Machine equipment as well as CNC and manual production equipment to support our world class production facility in the PPC Broadband World Headquarters in East Syracuse, NY. The Machining Maintenance Mechanic is a key member of our growing team who will contribute improvement ideas and best-practices to allow us to better serve our customers. Essential Functions:

  1. Performs mechanical maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment.
  2. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled and preventative maintenance repairs of production equipment.
  3. Uses troubleshooting to effectively and efficiently repair production machinery using skills including mechanical, electrical (up to 480 volt), pneumatic, and hydraulics.
  4. Engages in successful troubleshooting, promptly and accurately gathering relevant information (equipment manuals, blueprints, work orders, and communication with coworkers).
  5. Designs, fabricates, and welds parts to support manufacturing, to include but not limited to the welding of repairs to equipment.
  6. Complies with OSHA and ARC task regulations.
  7. Uses web-based work order system and prioritizes projects.
  8. Inputs work orders in database and initiates purchase requests as needed.

 Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • High School diploma preferred with skilled trades courses desired combined with 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance fabrication and welding preferred.
  • Prior relevant machine/precision equipment maintenance experience required.
  • Prior CNC programming experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and web-based work order systems preferred.
  • Must possess skills/knowledge of Industrial Electrician to read and comprehend electrical blueprints and schematics to install, troubleshoot, conduct preventative maintenance and perform repairs to facilities and production equipment to 480 Volts, 3-Phase.
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills.
  • Demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Proficient and well-rounded technical capacity.
  • Experience with work-order systems, preferably web-based systems.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Knowledge in PLC’s and CNC controls.
