Screw Machine Support

Position Summary:

The Screw Machine Support will be cross-trained in all job functions that provide support to the Screw Machine Department. The Screw Machine Support role will support the Screw Machine department by ensuring the cleanliness of the overall department and providing adequate material to the appropriate machines.

Essential Functions:

  1. Issues and de-issues bar stock to the Screw Machine department as needed.
  2. Unloads raw material and delivers to machines or raw material storage as required.
  3. Operates fork trucks, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes after successfully acquiring a PPC license to operate machinery.
  4. Cuts and disposes of scrap material.
  5. Operates riding and walk-behind floor scrubbing equipment to maintain facility floors for safe pedestrian & vehicular traffic.
  6. Moves bar stock carts and parts washers to access floor for cleaning.
  7. Recycles cleaning solution and maintains all recycling and cleaning equipment.
  8. Collects parts from each department and transports to wash area. Loads parts in racks, then load into machine and cycle automatically. Unloads washed parts onto conveyor, counting and weighing using Smart Scale.
  9. Logs all tickets for part numbers, piece counts, dates, shift and machines.
  10. Performs additional department maintenance duties to include, but not limited to, mopping up spills and areas inaccessible by floor scrubbers, cleans pit area and access ramp, cleans under bar loaders once per shift, empties all trash containers and replaces trashcan liners.
  11. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, abiding by company rules and safety regulations
  12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • General computer skills with the ability to use and learn SAP.
  • Must demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Basic mechanical abilities.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.

Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a loud manufacturing environment subject to fluctuations in temperature with regular exposure to grease, oil, and heavy machinery.

Physical Demands:
Physical requirements needed to perform the job are eye-hand coordination and bi-manual dexterity sufficient to work with small parts and operate machinery, a normal range of hearing and eyesight to focus on task, the ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to perform work while bending and/or crouching, and the ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
