Shipper- Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Shipping Team Leader is responsible for achieving inventory accuracy goals and the timely delivery of finished goods in to the system by effectively assigning work to team members on assigned shift to ensure achievement of daily goals.

Shift: Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm - 7:30am (Overtime as needed)

Candidate must be able to train on 1st shift for 2-3 weeks

Essential Functions:

  1. Supports the company’s on-time delivery goals by ensuring the timely delivery of finished goods to meet customer promised delivery dates through leading and motivating shipping personnel on assigned shift to strive for maximum performance.

  2. Maintains accuracy of inventory by ensuring shipping personnel follow applicable policies and procedures set in place.

  3. Pursues opportunities to improve operating efficiencies, product flow, quality, and reduce costs while maintaining maximum customer service.

  4. Assesses daily production requirements within the department and reallocates staff as needed to accommodate the workload and ensure goals are met.

  5. Trains shipping personnel upon hire and performs on-the-job training to ensure staff is adequately cross-trained in all job functions.

  6. Serves as SAP resource for the shipping department and trains team members on system use.

  7. Resolves issues as they arise and escalates to the Warehouse Manager as needed of situations that may adversely impact the achievement of department goals.

  8. Creates an environment that promotes professional growth, respect for others, and encourages teamwork.

  9. Enforces good-housekeeping standards and ensures work area is well maintained and clean during assigned shift.

  10. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education / Licensure / Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relatable experience in a shipping environment.
  • Forklift license and OSHA Certification a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a group.
  • Ability to be positive and support process changes, understanding the benefit behind them.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow and execute detailed processes/directions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a very fast paced team environment while adhering to shipping deadline.
  • Ability to obtain a PPC forklift license.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team within a culturally diverse workplace.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility in hours to accommodate business needs as demands change.

Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in a warehouse environment requiring prolonged standing.

Physical Demands:

Physical requirements needed to perform the job are visual skills to appropriately classify and separate similar looking parts, a normal range of hearing and eyesight to perform task, the ability to stand for long periods of time while performing work, and the ability to regularly lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds of material while performing frequent bending.
